1 and 2. Tunic. Natural white merino wool, 100% handspun on my wooden wheel. Really great, wear anywhere, do anything. Terrific roll over boatneck can slide down shoulders or wear around head in bad weather.

3. Neck Wrap. Handspun wool blend, coupled with camel/silk. Yin yang design offers softness with structure.

4 and 5. Sweater Wrap. All handspun yarn, beautiful natural white merino wool, silver baby alpaca, dark brown alpaca and a little bit of hand dyed kid mohair.

6. Lightweight Neck Scarf. Silky and very pretty. Juicy color offers some punch. Tie it on, take it off, it's easy!

Ultimate Popcorn

Do you ever get a late night munchie?
I do!
But the urge to munch isn't reserved for only late at night, oh no it's not.
In fact, a munchie can hit anytime. So it's best to be prepared.

First and foremost, the urge for a little munchie can come on strong while watching the tube. Another great munchie venue is hanging out with your friends and family, or even while reading a book.

Munchies not only satisfy a craving, these little snacks can be a bridge to relationships. By sharing a snack, we get to know others.

Frankly, a munchie can be useful to any arena of life, such as (but not limited to): driving in a car; watching a movie at the theater; waiting in the room for the doctor to finally come in for your appointment; standing in line at the grocery store while reading a trash mag; chatting on the phone with a good friend; or goofing off online at Facebook or some other internet outlet.

So, now that I have painted a picture of the necessity in having a munchie available at all times, I wanted to share with you my new favorite, Ultimate Popcorn.

Here's how you make it…

Ultimate Popcorn (not to be confused with Ultimate Frisbee. Frisbee's do not taste good.)

Requirements:
-Tall Pot
-Canola Oil (olive oil is ok too, but I always chose canola over olive because it's lighter)
-Popcorn. I use the one from the Orville Redenbacher because I like his suspenders.
-Hot burner on stove (that's right, no stinkin microwave for me and my popcorn, people!)
-Sea Salt
-Unsalted sweet butter (I use Land O'Lakes because it tastes really good, but whatever you want, just so it is real butter.)

Get it started:
-Put tall pot on burner and turn it on high. Let pot get hot for 30 seconds.
-Add enough oil to totally coat the bottom of the pot. I generally add enough oil so the pot has 1/4 inch of oil in it because I make a giant bowl of popcorn at one time.
-Add popcorn to the oil, enough popcorn to cover the bottom of the pot. You want a slight "film", or a small amount of oil, to be on top of the popcorn. I think it is about a 1/2 cup for my pot.
-Cut 1/2 to 1 full tablespoon of butter and drop it in the pot, right on top of the corn.
-Put lid on pot, stand there, and wait for it to start popping.
-Once it starts popping, just let 'er rip! Popped corn will gradually rise up from the bottom of the pot and the lid will be holding on for dear life. Just listen, or if you're hearing impaired or insist on wearing an Ipod, then just watch.
-Once the popping starts to slow way down, you're very close to your popped corn being done.
-Once you hear, or see, very few pops, turn the burner off and shake the pot with mitted hands holding the lid over the pot so it doesn't fly off.
-Dump your popped corn into a bowl and immediately sea salt to taste.
-Munch happily!

Alright, i have been a busy little wooly bully working on a gorgeous yarn for a new sweater. Not to give the proverbial farm away but it will have cashmere silk in it, plus a wonderful heathered yarn. Yeah!

And i've got to tell you guys, i know you're eager for some new stuff on wearmoa.com, so i will deliver!

The sweater i'm working on will be a wear anywhere pullover. The type of sweater that can go with anything, do anything, and love you to infinity. This one is true Luxurious Functional, truly Moa! It will be finished within 2 weeks, so just hang out with me.

hey everybody, i haven't dropped off the face of the earth. just transitioning out of the shop, and going on vacation. (yes, vacation! whoop whoop!)

new designs are in process. all are very cool and a great price point to boot.

so while the selection may seem slim right now, have no fear, the next collection is being designed. it takes time to spin the yarn and knit them, everything is by hand and original. it's worth waiting for.

i'll keep posting on the blog, and will take some shots of garments in process of course. but new news is that Fall 2009-2010 is underway and being created. meanwhile, check out the sale items at www.wearmoa.com there are a couple of good buys!

Hi everybody! We survived the move, which was a feat in and of itself. Turns out, moving sucks. Who knew? haha.

In shifting the shop to primarily online and trunk shows, etc, people have been asking me, "now what"? Please allow me to tell you the answer.

Now I will design more Moa HandKnits and keep working my little heart out to serve up beautiful things. Last year spring was not a huge collection, and I will continue on that theme of a small (yet exceptional) spring collection and then push on for next fall.

Lately I’ve been showing some materials, fiber that has been dyed and so on. To that measure pictured below is some yarn that I’ve handspun on my wooden spinning wheel (Fast & Furious Lucille).

I’m showing the raw materials to illustrate the proverbial beginning, and to demonstrate how each Moa HandKnits item is handcrafted from start to finish.

Moreover, the materials such as suri alpaca, wools, mohair, etc, are sustainable animal fibers that come from a crew of dear suppliers that treat their animals/processes with supreme kindness.

These aforementioned suppliers are farmers, animal rescuers, hand dyers, artists, and most importantly they are friends. Frankly, Moa HandKnits wouldn’t exist without them.

People ask me "what is your inspiration"; the answer to that question is that my inspiration comes from everything, and sometimes nothing. Out of thin air, or a compilation of many things (including candy, coffee, nature, people, and more). But what inspires me most is working with the raw materials, given each have their own identity.

hello everybody!
What a long strange trip it's been...this winter. the economy. gads. it's all too much, is it not?

so, this is my plan. to heck with it, i'm going to get juicy and punch it up with some color. why not?

this spring i'm combining silk with lightweight wool and making slings and wraps. take them to the beach, go out at night, or just put on something to feel pretty and dress up the usual. why not!

wraps will retail for under $150.00, and slings under $100.00 unless there is a custom something 'er other going on in the design.

presenting a fabulous new sweater, hot off the proverbial printing press. this one is ultra warm with great textures, it's designed with all handspun yarns. ingredients include: natural white kid mohair, merino wool, hand dyed angora, natural toffee colored kid mohair.

it is snug on the back, and rolls around the front. i can place a button for a front closure, or just leave as is. one cuff is leg of mutton, the other can be cuffed or worn straight. this is a wonderfully unique experimental design.

Hi Friends!
The Cincinnati shop is closed today due to a winter blizzard. I think the power at the shop as gone out, but I'm not 100% sure because my Ford Escape has 2 inches of ice and I can't go anywhere. Beyond that, we're on the verge of a level 3 snow emergency! Turns out Old Man Winter has a bone to pick this year. That bastard. :)

every winter i boast, "i don't get sick!". well. guess what.
i have been sick for freaking 3 weeks!
but i've turned a corner, and today was able to open my shop. (that's right, haven't even been able to work, this is how bad it was).

next week i will have updates on the website and spiff up the place, it's what the doctor ordered!
my fiber junkies can look for new fibers; all kinds of batts and hand dyed Suri Alpaca, plus more.
there is a slew of new baby hats
and a couple of new cowls, plus a new sweater in the works.

sorry to be so MIA, it's not because i wanted to be. (work is like crack to me. pajamas and blankets are cool for about half a day. beyond that...cripes!)

Moa Artisan boutique will be on vacation from Saturday Dec. 27th-Tuesday Jan. 6th. (i will reopen tuesday Jan 6th). But the online store will be business as usual, open 24/7.

wow, can you believe this holiday madness?
how do we do it year after year? LOL

news is that after Christmas i will be in the shop spinning up a storm for the 2009 collection! if you are local, stop in and look around, i'll be working the shop and also creating new designs for the 2009. so, i'll be spinning yarn, knitting and pinning garments on dollies--all kinds of fun.

for inventory, i've got gloves, new jewelry and a new stash of handbags! also new clogs and other fabulous items. so there is plenty of eye candy!

also the wearmoa.com site will have updates as the items are created. so if there isn't something you see today, or this minute, check back!

It feels like I've been trapped in a cryogenic chamber pod. No wait, it's not a pod, it's actually just my house where my husband insists on keeping the heat "at a low and affordable" temperature. For a winter wuss like me, this is code for "freeze until you die". LOL

With the swift kick in the pants from Old Man Winter, Moa Artisan has been very busy as people prepare to bundle up this season!

I will have new Moa HandKnits hats, scarves, wraps, and other wearables posted online at wearmoa.com very soon...by Wednesday this week, I promise! There are alot of new things you will enjoy.

Also I have to die for up-cycled sweater gloves from Daniel Storto. These too will be posted online by Wed. Right now I have about 8 pairs of sweater gloves, and a few black square gloves, with gorgeous women's velvet and men's sweater gloves arriving in Cincinnati later this week!
